FAMILY & COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

Head Start involves parents in each aspect of the organization.  We don't just enroll children, we enroll families.  Our Family Partnership Specialists involve parents and other members of the community in children's education in several ways:

Social Services - Homes visits are conducted to complete:

  • Family needs Assessments

  • Assist families to secure basic needs by either direct services or referrals to other agencies

  • To identify goals and work toward achieving them

  • Link-up with resources of Head Start and the community

Parent Involvement - We provide ways to keep parents involved in all areas of their children's education.  Parents, along with other interested members of the community may volunteer in many areas:

Parent Education - Head Start hosts informational meetings throughout the school year in various locations to education parents about topics relevant to their needs.

Activities include but are not limited to:

  • Health

  • Nutrition

  • Child Development

  • Mental Health

  • Parenting

  • Self-improvement

We also serve the special needs of families with:

  • socialization

  • family circumstances

  • referrals by other agencies

  • disabilities/mainstreaming

  • child lives within service area

Fatherhood Initiative - As part of the National Fatherhood Initiative, Beaver County Head Start is partnering with various agencies to lead a county-wide movement to confront the problem of father absence.
